Looking for the most effective Bulging Disc Treatment available?  Welcome to BulgingDiscTreatment.info – your source for information about treatments that work.

If you’re like most individuals dealing with this condition, you get frustrated with your treatment options.  Many people go to their doctor and quickly realize that the treatments available to them just aren’t effective in most cases.

Most physicians will begin by prescribing medications for this condition (usually a combination of pain-relievers, muscle relaxers, and anti-inflammatories).  Unfortunately, these only work about 30% of the time, and when they do work, the benefits usually wear off when you stop taking them, so you’re left back at square one.

Pain injections are another option, and are often prescribed when the pain is severe.  Injections such as steroids or epidurals are very common, and although they tend to provide relief in many cases, this relief is usually short-lived.

Physical therapy is the next step, which tends to have a higher success rate than the previous two treatments.  However, what they fail to tell you is that this problem often returns if you discontinue your exercise program.

Finally, surgery is the last resort.  When all else fails, this is normally the recommendation.  Why do they save this for last?  Because the success rate is very low, and those who are fortunate enough to experience relief following the surgery are usually surprised to see their pain return within 5 years of having the surgery.

Why is this the case?  Well, the reason these treatments only provide temporary relief in most cases is because they do not address the true cause of the problem.

What makes a bulging disc so painful is not the disc itself usually – it’s the nerve located directly behind the disc.

When a disc bulges, it will apply pressure on one of the nerves within the spine, and this is what causes so much pain.

So, the treatments we just mentioned are all designed with one goal in mind – reduce the inflammation around the nerve, thus relieving the pain.  And although that sounds good on the surface, the disc has still not healed, and so the pain often returns.

Are there any alternatives to these treatments?  Absolutely – learn the rest of the story by clicking the following link (Bulging Disc Treatment).

What is a Bulging Disc?

The discs of the spine are cushions that separate each set of vertebrae that make up the spine.  Each disc is made up of a firm outer covering called the Annulus and a soft jelly center called the Nucleus.

The main purpose of these discs are to act as shock absorbers so the bones of the spine do not hit each other when you move.

In the case of a bulging disc, something happens that causes the outer covering of the disc to begin to tear.  Usually this occurs because of an injury (such as a car accident), wear and tear over the years, or even a genetic problem that weakens the disc.

When this tear occurs, the jelly in the center of the disc begins to shift from the center, and it will cause the outer covering of the disc to “bulge,” which is where it gets its name.

This condition is also commonly referred to as a herniated disc or a slipped disc.

The most common location for a disc to bulge is at the back, right where the nerves of the spine are located.  Because of this, pressure is usually applied to these nerves, and pain ensues.

Pain isn’t the biggest concern with this condition, however, because whatever these nerves control will also begin to develop problems.

For example, if your bulging disc is in the lower back, the nerves that are affected will control the legs, some of the digestive organs, the bowel and bladder, among other things.  So, it’s very common for a person with this condition to develop symptoms other than low back pain, like pain traveling down the legs (sciatica), weakness in the legs, loss of control of the bowel or bladder, and digestive problems such as constipation.

The same is true for a bulging disc in the neck, which can lead to symptoms such as neck pain, pain traveling into the shoulders or arms, numbness in the fingers, chest pains, hand weakness, shortness of breath, and even heart palpitations (a feeling that your heart is beating really fast within your chest).
